However, you really have to stop making ill-considered declarations like, 'apartheid seemed like fun at the time'.

That is unfunny and silly. You need to get your act together. Are you going to continue to treat material in a shallow throwaway fashion, or are you going to fashion a consistent, smart world view to develop into a formidable host of the Daily Show.

Satire is one of many funny, smart responses that you could use. And simply thinking issues through before you go on shows.

Perhaps you need a person to work on your image and monitor your publicity and profile?

If you continue in this starry-eyed, star-struck manner, it won't be long before no-one takes you seriously and treats you as just one of many pretty boys.
