WATCH: Stranger snatches child at Johannesburg restaurant

CCTV footage circulating on social media this week shows a man snatching a toddler at a Spur restaurant in Johannesburg in 2016. 

According to News24, the mother of the 22-month-old boy said that she was glad that the footage was doing the rounds on social media, even though she did not post it herself.

The footage shows the man picking the child and quickly shuffling towards the exit.

The father of the little boy sees the man with his child and quickly intervenes.

The woman told the news organisation that she believed that the man was about to pass her son to a woman before leaving the restaurant.

She said that when her husband confronted the man he said that he was just playing.

A case of kidnapping was opened but police chose not to prosecute.
