Two Tunisian soldiers were injured Monday in a landmine explosion near the Algerian border, the latest in a series of attacks on troops hunting a radical Islamist group in the region, Tunisia's official TAP news agency reported.

The explosion took place around Mount Chaambi, where soldiers have been hunting an Islamist cell for several days, according to defence spokesman Colonel Mokhtar Ben Nasr.

One soldier was hit in the leg and the other in the eye, he said. The pair were evacuated by helicopter to Kasserine regional hospital.

The attack is the fourth on security forces in the region in a week. Eight national guard members and two soldiers were wounded in three landmine explosions last week, according to TAP.
