New breast cancer vaccine trials set for Taiwan
Clinical trials of a new vaccine that uses the patient’s immune system to control and kill breast cancer will begin in Taiwan by year-end, according to Taipei-based Optimer Biotechnology.
The trials, which have been approved by the Department of Health, will be conducted at 15 local cancer centers on terminal patients for a period of two years. The renowned Huang Chiun-sheng, president of National Taiwan University Hospital’s breast cancer unit, is overseeing the project.
