A gadget promising "the perfect cup of tea" will go on sale around the world next year - with a price tag of more than R100000.

The Craft Brewer brews a cup of tea in a minute, using reverse atmospheric infusion (Rain).

Common brewing methods pull or push water through tea, but the Craft Brewer changes the air pressure.

Loose tea leaves are placed in a brewing chamber and air is then drawn out to create a vacuum.

The negative pressure causes gasses from the tea leaves to be released, giving optimum flavour, says Bkon, the company that has produced the Craft Brewer.

It says flavour extraction can happen at a lower temperature, which means "a smoother finish".

Prototype Craft Brewers are being tested at coffee shops in New York. -
