The ANC yesterday moved quickly to block an effort to revive the parliamentary ad hoc committee looking into the security upgrades to President Jacob Zuma's Nkandla homestead.

A motion by DA chief whip John Steenhuisen for a multiparty ad hoc committee to review the controversy was quickly scuppered by ANC chief whip Stone Sizani, whosaid inter-party consultation had to take place first.

DA federal executive chairman James Selfe said Zuma was using "one flimsy excuse after the other".

Its parliamentary leader, Mmusi Maimane, said his party would have to take the matter to court after the motion failed.
