A 13-year-old-boy died at school in Thabong near Welkom when a soccer post fell on him, paramedics said on Saturday.
ER24 spokesman Russel Meiring said the boy had apparently been swinging on the pole when it collapsed and stuck him on the head on Friday.
"Paramedics arrived at the school and found a group of children standing around the lifeless body of the young boy.
"Paramedics assessed the patient but found he had already succumbed to his severe injuries," he said.
