You can now watch television series and feature films without pirating the content.

Vidi - the first local online streaming entertainment hub offering video on demand - was launched yesterday.

Vidi does not require a decoder or a satellite dish.

Vidi spokesman Grant Shippey, referencing the hit show Breaking Bad, said: "Unlike Walter White's meths, this entertainment is legal ."

The new Times Media Group venture is offering two options - a streaming subscription for R149 per month and a film rental service with films costing between R15 and R27.

The offer so far allows unlimited viewing from a library of more than 21 series and over 100 films.

The company has established licences with Sony, Warner and Disney.

While low internet speed plagues South Africa, Andrew Bonamour, CEO of TMG, said: " We want to be at the forefront of the market and grow with the market."
