Don Steenkamp, sentenced to 20 years' jail for the triple murder of his family in Griekwastad, will launch an appeal against his 20-year jail sentence, in the Northern Cape High Court.

The 18-year-old received the sentence last year for killing his parents, Griekwastad farmer Deon Steenkamp, 44, and Christel, 43, and sister, Marthella, 14.

They were shot dead on their farm Naauwhoek on April 6, 2012.

The teenager was also found guilty of raping the girl and lying to the police.

In January it was reported that Steenkamp's former lawyer Stoffel de Jager had approached the courts in a bid to recover unpaid legal fees from Steenkamp.
