Security guards find murdered woman in Honeydew

A woman believed to be around 30-years-old was found raped and murdered in Honeydew, police said on Saturday. 

Her body was discovered by security guards just a short distance from her home on Friday morning, said Major Mac Mngomezulu. 

It was believed that she had been attacked as she was walking home from work on Thursday evening. 

"She was half-naked when she was found and the manner in which she was found suggests that she was raped but this will be confirmed once a post-mortem is conducted. It seemed she had been strangled because there were no visible injuries on her," Mngomezulu said.  

The woman's cellphone and handbag was missing. 

No arrests had been made.
