Two groups of eNCA "mobile" journalists were part of 60 teams that took part in the 48 Hour Film Project in Johannesburg.
They had to produce a short film of between four and eight minutes in 48 hours.
Gloves Up was the film produced by Zola Brunner. It was directed by Galegake Rakgokong under the name African Flag.
''It's the first time everything was created on the phone, from shooting to editing," says Brunner. ''We thought; let's push the boundaries," she adds.
The video could not be loaded.
Another team entered a short piece filmed on a phone, but African Flag were the only ones to use phone apps in their post-production as well.
The story follows the relationship between a woman keen on martial arts and her boyfriend . After he abuses her, she fights back.
Brunner said playing multiple roles and post-production process were challenging, but the team ''embraced being directors, producers, cameramen and assembling sound."
Gloves Up won the award for the best mobile production.
