Man seriously injured after being trapped in factory machine

A man sustained serious injuries to his legs after being trapped in a large piece of machinery for about three hours at a factory in Bloemfontein on Friday.

The man‚ in his 20s‚ was surrounded by colleagues‚ trying to free him when paramedics arrived.

“Paramedics assessed the man and found that he was in a serious condition‚” said ER24 spokesman Russel Meiring. “The man had been apparently trapped for approximately three hours.

“Emergency personnel utilised rescue tools to free the man. Once freed‚ he was treated and provided with advanced life support interventions before he was transported to Pelonomi Hospital for urgent treatment.”
