Supersport United will have to "show character" after their 5-0 mauling by Mamelodi Sundowns on Thursday in the reloaded Tshwane derby tomorrow.

A changed Matsatsantsa-a-Pitori selection thumped Liberian side Barrack Young Controllers 5-0 in the CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday.

But they must win tomorrow to keep their league dreams alive, and victory would see them move to five points behind joint leaders Cape Town City and Kaizer Chiefs.

Coach Stuart Baxter found it difficult to explain the rout.

"It looked like we were watching and admiring Sundowns rather than being in the game," said Baxter, 63.

"It's easy to say: 'Let's just move on,' but you can't. The response to this has got to be to stand up and show character."

Downs have won the last six derbies, scoring 17 goals and conceding two.
