The man was arrested on Wednesday after several days on the run following his escape from Addington Hospital while naked.

The 36-year-old man had his first brush with the law on Friday last week when he was arrested for trying to break into a house in Westbury Crescent in Durban North.

Security guards and police managed to capture the man who‚ in an effort to flee‚ bit a guard.

The man had then escaped from the cells at the Durban North police station after a detective had booked him out of the holding cell.

He was then arrested‚ and during the course of being nabbed he was bitten by a police dog‚ sustaining injuries to his arms and legs.

The finale of his escape act played out at Addington Hospital‚ where he had been taken under police guard.

While at hospital he deliberately soiled himself and his bed linen‚ a ploy to get the nurses to take him to the bathroom. While there he escaped through a window.

Police spokeswoman Colonel Thembeka Mbhele confirmed the man had been rearrested and said he had appeared in the Durban Magistrate’s court facing charges of house-breaking and two for escaping lawful custody.
