The joy on the faces of the men and women in the gallery of the Cape Town High Court thinly masked the tears of grief that welled in their eyes when the men who raped and murdered Hannah Cornelius were led down the steps to start their lifelong incarcerations.
Judge Rosheni Allie stood up swiftly and without another word left the courtroom, turning her back on the three men she had just handed two life sentences each.
