#CryOurBelovedMzansi trends as Mzansi's concern over crime deepens

South Africans have flooded social media platforms with their experiences with crime following the death of Limpopo’s Thoriso Themane on Sunday.

Themane died after allegedly being beaten by a group of school boys in a park near his home on Saturday.

#Cryourbelovedmzansi dominated the trends list, as people urged authorities to do more to ensure a safer environment.

Some also commented on the role of parents in ensuring their children grew up to be  responsible.

The government and justice authorities were urged to be firm with those who thought they could get away with committing crimes.

Those arrested in connection with Themane’s death are due to appear in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
