Ronnie Mamoepa undergoes surgery‚ receives visit from Cyril Ramaphosa

Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa's spokesman Ronnie Mamoepa "has taken ill and is receiving medical care".

He fell ill in the early hours of Monday‚ and was transferred to hospital where he has undergone surgery‚ Ramaphosa's office said in statement on Wednesday. The Deputy President visited Mamoepa in hospital on Tuesday evening.

"Deputy President Ramaphosa’s thoughts are with Mr Mamoepa’s family at this time and he wished Mr Mamoepa a speedy recovery. "In line with the wishes of the Mamoepa family and hospital staff in relation to privacy and management of Mr Mamoepa’s condition‚ visits will be permitted once Mr Mamoepa is transferred to a general ward from the intensive care unit‚" the statement read.
