The Court of Arbitration for Sport says it will hear a doping case against 1997 Tour de France winner Jan Ullrich next month.
CAS has set Aug. 22 for the International Cycling Union’s appeal to force Switzerland’s Olympic committee to reopen an investigation into Ullrich’s links with the Spanish doping probe Operation Puerto.
The Swiss body said last year its rules have no power over Ullrich because he retired in 2007.
Ullrich is German but registered his racing license with the Swiss cycling federation.
Ullrich served a six-month doping ban in 2002 and, for a second offense, faces a life ban from holding any position in cycling.
A CAS verdict is typically given several weeks after a hearing.
