Berlin will definitely look at bidding for another Olympic Games, the mayor of the German capital, Klaus Wowereit, said Friday.

"We will submit a bid, but we have to make sure there is acceptance," Wowereit said in an interview with the Berliner Rundfunk station.

"I have been saying for years that Berlin is long ready for the Olympic Games.

"But I think that it would only work in unison with sports officials and federal politicians," he said.

In 1993, the German capital failed in its bid to host the 2000 summer Olympics.

"We know how much the selection process is being discussed right now.

"It costs a lot of money and of course we need an acceptance among the population. Everything has to fit together," Wowereit continued.

"In a city like Berlin, we will never reach the point where everyone cheers when we say we will host the Olympic Games.

Still, we know how excited this city is about sports." Wowereit did not say for which Olympics Berlin would submit a bid.
