The Mercedes-Benz S-Class is the best car in the luxury class, and the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG is the best sports car.
This is the result of a readers' survey by the major German motoring magazine "auto, motor und sport".
For two years in succession, the SLS has therefore been voted the "Best car of the year" in its category.
The S-Class saloon has likewise won this coveted award several times in recent years. This confirms that these cars from Stuttgart enjoy an exalted position.
The German motoring magazine has been voting for the "Best cars of the year" since 1977.
This time more than 90000 readers took part in the survey to decide which were the best cars of 2011.
