Well, now you can top up your motoring knowledge with the help of the Automobile Association (AA) which is offering a one-day "Know Your Car" course, at which you can learn all you need to know about your car. The one-day course runs from 9am to 3.30pm weekdays and weekend sessions can be arranged for groups.

The course gives an overview of engine basics, braking system and steering system basics, basic vehicle maintenance, wheel and tyre care and occupant restraint systems as well as a "what would you like to know" section.

After taking the course you will know what the problem is with the car, what to check and what to look out for. You eill also have a better understanding of the cars workings and basic care needs. The course costs R500 (AA members get a 10% discount).

The next course is on February 11. To book, contact Maria on (011) 3479300 or Mmthimkhulu@aasa.co.za.
