Q: I didn't mean to snoop on his phone, but I happened to notice that my husband watches porn involving anal sex. Also he and his friends seem to find it interesting and funny. Is this a trend? I find it offensive. Even though it can be pleasurable, I will only do it once in a while to appease him.
A: The fact that heterosexual men are sharing and watching anal sex porn isn't a sign on its own that anal sex is a trend. However, this type of sex was in the past viewed as almost exclusive to gay men.
I can appreciate where your discomfort stems from, especially if in your relationship your partner has not shared this interest in anal sex. You may also have some rigid views on anal sex that lead you to react this way.

The anal sex part of the porn may be bothersome to you, however it really is not such a big deal for many people. And enjoyment of anal sex will not affect one's sexual orientation.
Anal sex has become more mainstream and yes, there has been an undeniable increase in its popularity even among heterosexual couples. People are not embarrassed that they are interested in or enjoy anal play anymore.
People of all sexual orientations can derive pleasure from stimulation of the anal area and the prostate gland, and attain orgasm with or without penetration. Sex toys and silicone lubricants have a role to play in exploring the anal area and making the play fun.
