The world currently has a record number of millionaires, and they have a combined wealth of up to $63.5-trillion (R894-trillion), new research has shown. But have you ever wondered which cities are the most attractive to these millionaires?

Electrocomponents trading brand, RS Component, did some research on this and revealed the top 50 cities with the most millionaires. 

London has topped the list, with 357,200 millionaires in the city overall. New York is second with a total of 339,200 millionaires. 

In third place was Tokyo with 279,800 millionaires in the city, followed by Hong Kong in fourth with 227,900 millionaires. Rounding out the top five was Singapore with 217,300 millionaires in the city overall.

Surprisingly, Johannesburg, which came in at number 42, has more millionaires than Milan and Monaco. The City of Gold has 18,200 millionaires, compared to Milan's 14,600 and Monaco's 13,400.

The only other African city to feature on the list was Angola's Luanda. The city has 4,100 millionaires in total.

Asian cities dominated the top 10, but overall, the US had the most number of cities featured on the list: New York (2), San Francisco Bay Area (6), Los Angeles (7), Miami (29) and Washington DC (30).

  8. Frankfurt, Germany: 128,300 millionaires.
  9. Osaka, Japan: 117,700 millionaires.
  10. Paris, France: 110,900 millionaires.
