IT'S official - men do have more sex partners than women. A survey in Britain has found that the average man has twice as many sexual partners in their lifetime compared to women.

The survey found that men have nine sexual partners in a lifetime, while women have four.

A quarter of men said they had more than 10 conquests, while 25% of women reported only having had sexual intercourse with one partner, The Telegraph reports. Among older women, monogamy was more common, with 40% saying they had a single partner all their lives.

The poll of 14000 people, published by the NHS Information Centre this week, found that younger generations were losing their virginity at ever earlier ages and taking more risks. A surprising 27% of women aged 16 to 24 said they lost their virginity before the age of 16. That compares to just 4% of women aged 55 to 69 who said they had sex before the age of 16.

Only 10% of young women were still virgins.

Having spent some time in London, none of this surprises me. I wonder if the survey, which only relates to the Brits, would be any different if conducted in South Africa. Somehow, I doubt it.

Harry's having a blast

PRINCE Harry is having a jolly good time celebrating the festive season in London. This week, the red-haired party animal was spotted at three different venues in one night. First stop for the 27-year-old was the city's favourite Christmas attraction - Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park - just down the drag from Buckingham Palace.

Then he headed across town to dine at the smart Chelsea restaurant, Jak's, which specialises in Mediterranean cuisine, according to The Sun. Then he ended off the night with a visit to the Zefi Bar in Knightsbridge.

Dressed in jeans and a sweater, he partied with friends before heading home at 2am.

By then, the effects of a good night out were evident, leading one commentator to say he was as "sober as a judge". And we all know what that means.
