Liesl Laurie: By the grace of God I walked away with a few bruises

Former Miss South Africa Liesl Laurie has broken her silence for the first time since being involved in a near fatal car accident.

Liesl, who slammed into a truck after the car behind her smashed into her on the N1 near Midrand, says that she has been recovering at home and is happily lapping up the attention she has received from friends and family.

"I am recovering at home and enjoying all the pampering from my family and close friends."

It was reported that the beauty queen had to climb out of her car window to escape the wreckage, but managed to escape largely unharmed.

"Thank you to everyone for all your calls, sms's and emails. It is only by the grace of God that I walked away from the accident without so much as a few bruises and a very stiff body."
