Outspoken Idols judge Somizi has slammed critics who have been calling for more diversity in the local entertainment industry, asking if they realise that it is often the only job entertainers have.

The #OpenTheIndustry social media debate that gripped the nation a few months back may have all but died out, but Somizi went a long way to resurrecting it on Wednesday, posting a video of his reaction to people's criticism that they are always seeing the same faces on TV.

In the video Somizi revealed that he has noticed the criticism and is gatvol of "people saying, 'hey, let other kids have a turn and make space for other kids."

"Has it ever dawned on you that we, people in the industry, this could be our only job?" he asked.

He added that it's not like he works at Woolworths all day and then choreographs and presents after-hours.

"No, If there is no gigs I am screwed. So, what do you mean I must let other kids have a chance? Sit on the couch at home? Ah, guys!," he added.

He went on to challenge any critic to "be the example and leave your job right now!"

Eish! Don't tempt, Somizi!
