The SABC is more than ready to roll out the 80% TV content policy across its television channels as from Monday, 4 July.

This comes after the public broadcaster announced its plans to beef up local content on its commercial television stations after implementing a similar policy across its radio stations in May.

In light of this move, the SABC unveiled new programming changes recently, that will see 80% local content aired on its channels from Monday.

Speaking to TMG Entertainment SABC spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago revealed that all systems for the roll out are in place.

"We are definitely ready to implement the changes," he said, before adding that the public broadcaster is "excited" to see the policy come to life.

"In fact, we've been ready for a long time - even before we announced the new programming line-up. So, viewers can definitely expect to see new locally-produced content from Monday."

In the new line-up on SABC 3 - which has seen the biggest revamp in recent years as well as a new logo - media personality Khanyi Mbau and television and radio personality Phat Joe will host The Weekend Edition, a show that will touch on topics ranging from style to social media creativity.

Radio personality Anele Mdoda joins the broadcaster as the host of a weekly talk show called Real Talk, which will air on week days.

TV personality Lorna Maseko's passion for food is also set to take centre stage as she bags a gig as the host of culinary reality show Top Chef SA.
