Join Letshego Zulu and other 'winners' in a tribute cycle challenge for the late Gugu
It's been nearly two months since South Africa was rocked by the death of sportsman Gugu Zulu, and the rally driver’s legacy is set to live on in the form of a tribute at this year's prestigious 947 Cycle Challenge.
Although a tribute ride was held for Gugu Zulu in the week that followed his death in July, the event is set to become a more permanent fixture at the 947 Cycle Challenge in November.
Gugu's widow Letshego took to Instagram this week to confirm that her and a "bunch of winners" will be riding the cycle challenge this year in honour of Gugu, and are looking for people to join them.
"We've finalized all the info for the Ride 4 Gugu at the 947 Cycle Challenge batch for this year. We now need a bunch of winners (as he used to say) to come ride with us and keep his memory alive. For more info, email adventurecoupleza@gmail.com," Letshego wrote.
The ride is the latest tribute to Gugu Zulu.
In July, a trust fund in the late sportsman's name was started by his friends to provide financial support for Gugu's family.
Letshego has spent the weeks following her husband's death sharing her last few moments with him. But her decision to speak openly about Gugu's death has drawn criticism from some on social media who feel she is not 'mourning properly.'
Speaking exclusively to TMG Entertainment recently, Letshego said that she did not find it necessary to respond to a small fraction of people who had a problem with the way she mourned her husband.
"I have decided that I don't find it necessary to respond to 0.01% of people who have a problem with my way of grieving," she said.
