Businessman Malcolm X has responded with anger and heartbreak over two recent incidents of women being robbed of their weaves, offering to reimburse them for their loss.
In one of the videos a woman was seen driving with her window down when a man ran past and simply pulled her weave off her head. Not much is known about the origin of the video.
The video could not be loaded.
In another, apparently taken from a camera situated on a street in Muizenberg, Cape Town on Saturday, a woman's weave was snatched along with her cellphone and handbag.
She was seen walking down the road when a car pulled up and two men assaulted her. The first made off with her bag while the second grabbed her phone and weave after several seconds of struggle.
In the end, defeated, she sat down on the pavement and appeared to cry in desperation.
The video has sparked outrage from people on social media, including Malcolm who shared the video on his Instagram account.
He said he was so hurt by the video and was unable to sleep. Malcolm asked followers to help him find the woman so he could assist her.
"I can’t sleep after watching this: please link me with her and I’ll replace everything she was robbed of, including her bag, cash & weave! She’s so broken!" he wrote.
In the end he was referred to Muizenberg Police and promised to keep his followers updated about his search.
