Nomsa Buthelezi has expressed how she defines love and spoke about how she and her wife Zandile celebrated their anniversary.

The media personality has been with her partner for five years and married for three. Though they couldn't be happier,  the backlash and scrutiny Nomsa faced as a consequence of openly loving Zandile made their anniversary celebrations a tad bittersweet.

“Our anniversary was a mixture of sweet and sour things but we chose the sweet. Even if I have to be the one to make way for those who are coming after me, I'm OK. God has used me and I've been hit with many bullets for the next generation,” she said

“I'm glad at the end of the day I was able to love someone wholeheartedly without the pressures of fitting into a society that says I need to do things according to what's good for their eyes or whatever. It took my sexuality for people to turn against me, but I needed to be true to myself.”

Having witnessed her parents happily married for 45 years, Nomsa said she also wants to experience a long loving relationship with her partner, and wants to help people understand love has nothing to do with sexuality.

“When you truly experience love I think you experience God, because no matter how you feel, as long as you have love it soothes your heart to be free to feel loved. Don't act love. Feel it.”

After hosting Our Perfect Wedding for nearly five years, she's found her niche and is excited to be given another opportunity to showcase the experience of love and merging unions as the presenter of Mama VS Makoti in October.

“Every time I do weddings, there are moments that get me. The moment when the bride walks down the aisle and the husband sees their partner. I am so blessed to be part of that. Love is infections. To see people get married after going through it all.”
