‘What a fighter’ — Fans rally behind Mark Pilgrim after health update

The timeline has been flooded with words of encouragement and prayers for radio jock Mark Pilgrim after his recent social media post revealing he was back in hospital for another  procedure. 

Mark was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in June 2022 and was recently released from hospital after a 64-day stay which included medical procedures that caused him to lose 15kg. 

Mark posted a snap of himself on s hospital bed on Tuesday and explained he was looking forward to walking on the beach with his fiancée and children.

“Really skinny at the moment. Having more fluid drained from abdomen so my tummy has a bit of space for food. It’s a journey. It’s not easy. Baby steps. Still have the end goal in sight where myself, Adrienne and the girls are walking on the beach with our future golden retriever,” he tweeted.

Tweeps who have witnessed Mark's journey since last year flooded his comments section with positive vibes and wished the seasoned radio host some form of relief. 

“The Mark Pilgrim health updates are so heartbreaking to see such a legendary guy go through so much pain. Wishing the media genius good health and a speedy recovery,” said one social media user

“The will to live is a force within all of us to fight for survival when our lives are threatened by a disease such as cancer. Yet this force is stronger in some people than in others. Prayers up for Mark Pilgrim,” wrote a tweep

When Mark was discharged from hospital after his long stay, he posted: “After 64 days, seven procedures and losing almost 15kg, today I go home! Still have a tube coming out my side and will have a home nurse looking after me as I slowly build my strength, but nothing beats the healing power of being home with loved ones, doggies, the fresh air and garden.”
