K.O has revealed he and AKA were in the studio recording the first single to their long-awaited joint project days before the rapper was assassinated.

Kiernan “AKA” Forbes was gunned down outside a popular restaurant in Durban on Friday evening. The shooting also resulted in the death of his lifelong friend Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane, a chef and author.

On Tuesday K.O took to his social media timeline to share a video captured seven days ago when he and AKA were in the studio recording together.

“Exactly seven days ago AKA and myself were in the studio recording a precursor single to our long overdue collaborative tape. Seven days later I can’t believe I’m here making this post. Rest in heaven dear friend, king, legend, icon, GOAT. Love you for life,” he wrote.

Since AKA's passing many on social media have speculated who ordered the hit on the rapper. Some pinned former Dream Team member Lusasa “Saso” Ngcobo, Don Design, DJ Benny Maverick and the rapper's friends he was last seen with as suspects.

K.O warned people to stop spreading unfounded claims and conspiracies, saying his lawyer had already summoned someone who made defamatory allegations against him relating to the murder.

“Stop playing with innocent people’s names and lives for clout unless you have proven facts and motive. My lawyers rightfully summoned one of you already. We’re all hurting and mourning, but don’t spice up your ‘grief’ and public spats with my name for the sake of trending.”

AKA's family held a press briefing in Johannesburg on Tuesday where they addressed the media following their son's death.

AKA's father and family spokesperson Tony Forbes slammed speculation and conspiracies that have pinned his close friends as suspects in his death, saying AKA's friends, who were at the scene, were left traumatised by the incident.

“We send our love and support to friends who were with Kiernan in his last moments in Durban and we feel their trauma and pain as well. Our home will always be open to them. We do not condone what's been said about his friends and those making dangerous statements and we appeal to them to cease doing so.”
