What do you drive?

A Toyota Corolla from the previous millennium . Great car. Old, but tough.

Does your car have a name?

Charlie. When I first got it the seats were covered in maroon fur as though the car was wearing a "tjalie".

What does your odometer read?

235124 km. Not too bad considering it's almost 20 years old.

What do you like about your car?

Its metal. I was in a accident in 2008. The other car involved was a modern car. It was a write-off.

What would be your ultimate car if budget were no issue?

I'd love to drive a Mini Cooper that was cream at the bottom with a black top, like a cappuccino machine on wheels.

What's the fastest you have ever driven?

About 160km/h, but only once or maybe twice.

What is the worst thing you have ever done in your car?

Nothing terrible, but I am the queen of locking my keys in my car. Man, I've had to break into my car more than anyone else I know.

Do you consider yourself a good driver?

Yes. I even got my licence the first time.

What was your first car?

Also a Toyota Corolla, but an even older version from the '80s.

What's the furthest you've driven without stopping?

From Joburg to Durban.

What's in your CD shuttle?

Nothing - my car radio is out of action. So I'm entertained by the sounds of street life.

Do you sing and dance along in your car when you are by yourself?

Sing, yes. Dance, no.

Would you drive a hybrid if they were more easily available in SA?

Yes, I most definitely would.

How do you reduce your contribution to global warming?

I recycle and use animal-friendly products.

Have you ever got out of a fine?

Yes, several times. When I was still a student I'd write a nice letter to the traffic department, explaining that I couldn't afford the payment. Now I need to come up with new excuses.

If you were to customise your licence plate, what would it say?

I will never have one of those. They're tacky.

What is the coolest car in a movie?

I like the old James Bond cars. Don't ask me which one. They're too pretty to pick a favourite.

If you could have a car accessory or if you could invent one, what would it be?

The less accessories I have the better. I can't keep up with gadgets and things.
