SA actress and The Woman King star Thuso Mbedu has taken a moment to reflect on how the SA leg of the film's press tour affected her.

She posted on Instagram that the press tours for the Hollywood blockbuster were finished after weeks on the road.

I now have a moment to pause and reflect ... This was day one of the SA press tour. It was amazing. I don’t have words to describe the experience. Thank you to those who joined us at Warrior Training; to NSA, @savethechildrensouthafrica, Daliwonga Secondary School and the Wits School of Arts for having us.”

To Mzansi, this is what she had to say:

Dear SA,

You showed up in an amazing way for me and the cast of The Woman King. May you do for others as you did for me. Blessings on blessings to you. I pray that you get to fully live out your dreams.

Here's a look at some of her moments on home soil:

“We are here. There is no mistaking it, we are capable.”

This was the one thing Thuso told Spotlight she would like the world to take away from The Woman King, which launched in SA cinemas at the weekend.

Thuso plays the role of Nawi, a young warrior who joins the Dahomey warriors. Thuso says the character's story will resonate with many viewers.

“We see her fail time and time again, but we see her push through it. I think, as people, that's what we're drawn to.”
