'We are proud as South Africa' — Lady Du gives Uncle Waffles her flowers
Amapiano sensation Lady Du has applauded Uncle Waffles for flying the SA flag high at Coachella this past weekend.
On Saturday Uncle Waffles was introduced as the surprise act on the Do-Labs stage. She had another set at the Coachella after-party at Zenyara.
Taking to her Instagram timeline Lady Du shared a clip of the young star on stage and gushed on her and shared the meaning behind the lyrics to one of her songs.
“I don’t think people know what this verse stands for! It’s a message to all the people trying to pull each other down, those that are infected by jealousy so sithi ngena esbedlele admit yourself because we are still going to succeed,” she explained.
Waffles launched her debut album Red Dragon in early 2022, which became one of the most streamed albums on Apple Music locally, the DJ recently announced she will release her second project, Asylum.
Lady Du recalled she reached out to Waffles when she was still new to the scene.
“To Uncle Waffles I remember sitting down with you for a conversation after you trended and said the sky is the limit. You’ve done nothing but chase it. I would like to take my hat off for you and congratulate you from the purest place of my heart.You have made us proud. you are a true example of dreams come true and a key to a lot of doors! We are proud as South Africa and wish you more wealth, good health and a lot of protection. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing our music,” she added.
The popular DJ will return to Coachella this coming weekend for her fourth performance in Indio, California.
