School's in session! Makhadzi & Somizi own Durban July with grand entrances

The warm welcome Makhadzi received at this year's Durban July event has left khazinators in awe.

The singer shared a clip of her performance on her socials and it got a lot of love — but it was the intro from the MC when she was about to perform that shook things up.

Makhadzi was showed love by celebs Pearl Thusi, Lamiez Holworthy and Clement Maosa, who joined in the fun when Makhadzi was entertaining the crowd. The Limpopo-born musician also rubbed shoulders with EFF politicians Julius Malema, accompanied by his wife Mantwa, and Floyd Shivambu. 

In her mentions, her stans were moved by the love.

“That's what I'm talking about! That intro was just powerful and I give it a 100,” wrote one.

“Your humility will take you far. I love you so much,” added another.

Gospel star Dr Winnie Mashaba also chipped in with a shout-out to Malema.

“This is so beautiful muratho. My respect for Julius Malema keeps on growing for the huge support he gives to all the artists. Well done, Makhadzi, love you,” she wrote.

When it comes to grand entrances, TV and radio personality Somizi Mhlongo by far takes the cake.

Somizi, who hosted DJ Tira's Afrotainment marquee, ate and left no crumbs with his seven outfit changes.

The media personality channelled an alien look and was carried into the venue by men holding him up in a makeshift alien cage. Shortly after this he started his multiple outfit changes, at one point twinning with daughter, Bahumi Mhlongo.
