A 35-year-old man has been arrested for an alleged attempted carjacking, and shooting, in Pinetown that left one suspect dead.
KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Lt-Col Paul Magwaza said the suspect was arrested in KwaDabeka on Sunday.
The incident took place on October 9 at Lee Place, where a father was reversing out of his driveway with his two children when suspects allegedly got out of a vehicle behind them.
One of the suspects allegedly opened fire on the father, who returned fire and fatally wounded the suspect.
Magwaza said further investigation led Pinetown detectives to KwaDabeka, where the 35-year-old was arrested. He was allegedly found in possession of an unlicensed firearm and 14 rounds of ammunition.
The suspect faces charges of attempted carjacking, three counts of attempted murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
He is expected to appear in the Pinetown magistrate’s court on Tuesday.
