IN PICTURES | PDAs aplenty on Prince Harry & Meghan Markle's first African royal tour
Meghan Markle seems to be taking being a royal in her stride. The Duchess of Sussex recently completed her first-ever African royal tour in Morocco.
Markle arrived with her husband, Prince Harry, in the North African monarchy on February 24 wearing a stunning, red Valentino dress — a colour People reports she chose as a nod to Morocco's flag.
According to the royal family's official website, the aim of the visit was to "highlight the vital roles that girls' education and youth empowerment are playing in shaping Modern Morocco".
Never ones to shy away from public displays of affection (PDAs), the regal pair looked very much like a young couple in love as they carried out their official engagements.
These included:
- Touring a boarding house in the Atlas Mountains run by NGO Education for All, an organisation which provides girls from poor, rural areas with accommodation so they can continue their studies.
- Visiting the Royal Federation of Equestrian Sports in Rabat to find out more about their equine therapy programme for children with special needs.
- Checking out a social entrepreneurs' event and market in the Andalusian Gardens in Rabat.
Markle also got to indulge in one of her passions — food — during a cooking demo with one of the country's top chefs, Dar Moha, in Rabat.
The chef taught the duke and duchess about traditional Moroccan dishes and gave them the chance to sample pancakes, which Harper's Bazaar reports were made from a recipe in Together: Our Community Cookbook, the charity recipe book Markle was involved in creating.
The Duchess opted for a casual chic look while out and about but, of course, it was during an audience with King Mohammed VI and a state dinner that we saw her best fashion moments.
The Dior gown Markle wore to a reception hosted by the British ambassador has got to be our favourite. She might not have practised fashion diplomacy by choosing a local designer to create her kaftan-inspired gown, but it was absolutely gorgeous.
