Algeria is seeking Russian involvement in its 286 billion dollar (232.7 billion euro) plan for giant public works projects, Finance Minister Karim Djoudi said Wednesday.
"This programme will pave the way for partnerships in tenders launched to achieve such projects," he said, especially in public works and water management, Djoudi said at the start of the fourth Russo-Algerian commission on cooperation.
The plan runs until 2014. According to Djoudi, several agreements were imminent in nuclear energy, maritime transport and space exploration, Algeria's official APS news agency reported.
A source in the Russian delegation told AFP that the meeting, co-presided by Russian Energy Minister Sergei Shmatko, was an opportunity to "study cooperation between the two countries in different domains including trade, science and technology."
The investment plan covers a major railway expansion programme.
