YFM's Tholi B - taking over from Dineo Ranaka - will have to punch above his weight if he's to be a success in the competitive afternoon drive-time slot.

Even before he was announced as the new presenter, listeners to the regional station were touting the Venda-born presenter as the best choice to replace the popular Ranaka.

Ranaka announced that she was taking a break and is aggressively promoting her fashion label Love DR and doing music.

But Tholi B, real name Rofhiwa Bologo, will have to pull a few rabbits out of his hat if he's to lure listeners away from 5FM's DJ Fresh, Metro FM's TBO Touch and Anele Mdoda, who has joined Highveld Stereo from 5FM.

"I have been ready for the last three years. Even when DJ Sbu left, people thought I was an automatic choice. It's been a long time coming for the listeners," said Bologo.

He said he appreciated the pressures of having to compete for listeners with the other big names, but the void left by "a brand" like Ranaka was not easy to replace.

Even before his previous 6pm to 9pm show, Room 69, he presented "The Joint Street Team" on AK's show The Joint.

His colleague, the "white boy", Bryce Clarke, is also on a steady rise.

Clarke joined the station only last year, doing his midnight show Strictly Tap Nights with Ankletap, but now moves to the 12pm to 3pm weekdays slot.

He will come in just after Zama Dube's Face Off (10pm to 12pm), taking over from DJ Warras.

The wild actress Minnie Dlamini joins Adil More to co-host The Metro FM Experience from 12pm to 3pm on Saturdays.

William Lehong will now share the mic with Marian Nyako-Lartey for Pyjama Party between 1am and 5am on Saturdays. Lehong will fly solo on Sundays between 1am and 3am.
