Bryan Singer has announced that Peter Dinklage will feature in the next "X-Men" instalment, although the part he will play remains unknown.

The actor, who was discovered in The Station Agent (2003) and who is currently starring in the fantasy series Game of Thrones, is joining the already rich cast of X-Men : Days of Future Past.

For now, 43-year-old Dinklage is the only new addition to the cast, which features actors from the original trilogy as well as the prequel X-Men: First Class, released in 2011.

Days of Future Past is inspired by a popular storyline in the original comic. It will tell the story of a return into the past by some of the X-Men to stop an assassination that will herald a bleak future for mutants. Ian McKellen and Michael Fassbender will share the part of Magneto, while Patrick Stewart and James McAvoy will both play Professor Charles Xavier.

X-Men: Days of Future Past is expected in July 2014 and will also feature Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), Nicolas Hoult (Beast), Ellen Page (Shadowcat), Hugh Jackman (Wolverine), Anna Paquin (Malicia) and Shawn Ashmore (Iceman).
