A film critic has predicted that Leon Schuster’s new movie will be far more popular than the Madiba-film this weekend, according to a report.

“With all due respect to our [father of the nation Nelson Mandela], I want to say that people want to relax over weekends,” said Leon van Nierop, who is convinced that Schuster’s move will attract far more viewers.

Beeld newspaper reported on Friday that both “Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom”, and “Schuks! Your Country Needs You”, start showing in movie theatres on Friday.

Nu Metro marketing head Mark Harris said he expected both movies to do well, but that the Mandela movie would be on the circuit for longer.

Ster-Kinekor’s Doug Place told the Afrikaans daily it would be very interesting to compare their successes at the box office after the first two weeks.
