Famous rappers have been known to take on the identity of a God, either as a way of showboating their sick skills on the mic or because of narcissism.

Kanye West has compared himself to religious figures for years. He even named one of his albums "Yeezus" and makes references to his spiritual abilities in some of the songs, including the aptly titled "I Am a God."

Similarly, Eminem compared himself to a god in the song ''Rap God.'' He claims he is omnipotent and can influence the world in much of the same way a god can.

  • Emtee accused of joining the IluminatiRoll-up rapper Emtee is the latest celebrity to fend off accusations of being part of the Illuminati.

Closer to home, hip-hop heavyweight Tumi Molekane - who has recently relaunched himself as Stogie T - has on several occasions proclaimed himself: "God of this sh*t [hip-hop]."

  •  Tumi Molekane lashes out at hip-hop artists again: 'I am better than you all'Rapper Tumi Molekane held nothing back last night, as he lashed out at new "talentless" hip-hop artists, for allegedly ruining the industry.

While this trend -  of rappers taking on the god persona - continues to take flight, it's safe to assume that Emtee won't be referring to himself as a God any time soon.

The rising star, who is one of the leading hip-hop acts in the country, took to Twitter to reveal that he doesn't understand ''how and why people call themselves gods,'' expressing his disagreement of the trend at the end of his tweet.
