Katy Perry has joined the ranks of celebrities who have been subjected to internet hacking.

The Roar hitmaker's account was taken over on Monday, when the first message posted to her 89 million followers read: 'haha follow @sw4ylol #hackersgonnahack' and those who followed the instruction had the first crack to download the pop star's unreleased song, Witness 1.3.

Shortly after a series of vulgar and controversial posts, the @sw4ylol account posted a screenshot of an email from SoundCloud, announcing they had removed the track under a copyright claim by Universal Music Group.

The tweet was also withheld by Twitter due to similar claims, however that did not stop several fans from downloading the song and uploading it onto YouTube.

  • Hackers terrorise Itumeleng Khune's bae Sbahle MpisaneItumeleng Khune's girlfriend Sbahle Mpisane just can't seem to shake off hackers. The fitness expert has been left frustrated after fraudsters once again broke into her account, locking her out in the process.

The hacker also sent a peacemaking message to Katy's rumoured rival, Taylor Swift, writing: ''miss you baby @taylorSwift13."

Katy and Taylor started their well-publicised fight in September 2014, after Taylor revealed that Bad Blood was inspired by another female artist.

At the time, the singer told Rolling Stone: "For years, I was never sure if we were friends or not. She would come up to me at awards shows and say something and walk away, and I would think, 'Are we friends, or did she just give me the harshest insult of my life?'"
