It's Durban July weekend. But forget about the horses, everyone has their eyes on the blessers.

It's not uncommon to hear stories of people being taken to, and then sometimes abandoned at the horse race by blessers.

  • Kay Sibiya and Nay Maps want to be your Matric farewell dateNo this is not a joke! Hunky Uzalo actors Kay Sibiya and Nay Maps are offering to be a fan's Matric farewell date.

In fact, blessers at the Durban July are such a concern that TV personality Penny Lebyane has taken to social media to warn of the dangers.

Using a, uh, rather unique visual example, Penny posted a picture of a ridiculous story about a blesser turning into a snake and eating his blessee.

While acknowledging that "anything is possible" when it comes to blessers, Penny told her followers to not "try it, especially since it's Durban July weekend."

She then turned her attention to wives, advising them to not let their husbands "be so lonely that he will need someone's company in Durban, whilst you are too preoccupied to realise that your marriage is funding some ignorant girl's idea of joy."

Penny suggested that, like fees, blessers must fall and Jesus, "the true blesser, must arise."
