Dineo Ranaka has attempted to mend broken fences by reaching out to a young girl whom she snubbed on Twitter.

Dineo caused a social media storm late last week when she snubbed a fan who had asked her to donate a dress for her matric farewell. Dineo responded to the fan's request by suggesting that she should focus on becoming rich rather than acting rich.

Twitter reacted to the snub by accusing Dineo of being "rude" and labelling her response as "unnecessary". Meanwhile, fans and celebs, including Lerato Kganyago and Sizwe Dhlomo, offered their help to make the young girl's matric farewell a success.

Despite the backlash, Dineo stood firm on her views and refused to publicly apologise for the rant. This lead to her PR company, Ndabezinhle PR, choosing to part ways with the star.

“On Friday, the 22nd of July 2016, we approached Miss Ranaka to send an official statement of apology to Miss Dimpho Mnisi. She declined, insisting that she will not apologise because she believes in education first and that’s what she meant when she replied to Miss Mnisi. We supported our client and moved on... We have therefore decided to retract ourselves as Miss Dineo Ranaka’s representatives and we wish her all the best,” the company said in a statement released over the weekend.

Dineo attempted to remedy the situation by travelling to Mpumalanga to meet with the girl and offer her support. She later posted a video of herself with Mnisi, with the young girl explaining God had used Dineo to help her.

But it seems not everyone was impressed by the visit and several Instagram users flooded the comments section of the video to call it a publicity stunt and label Dineo a “snake”. While many fans chose to fill the post with snake emoticons, one fan summed up his feelings about the post.

“Dineo stop, you're making it worse. The audacity to stand there and record this girl, saying things like you're a blessing sent from God, and you're just outchea nodding and agreeing. Just leave them alone. You messed up, apologise and move on,” a user named Bo_maq wrote.

Dineo later posted a picture of herself with the girl’s family, explaining the good that had come from the altercation.

"I will gladly take a bullet to learn who and what lies. Thank you Standerton, Mpumalanga. Thank you. What transpired on Twitter brought together a force of women to address social issues that affect our communities," she wrote.
