Rapper Kid X has set the record straight on why he decided to leave Cashtime Life, saying they "stopped seeing eye to eye".

The rapper, who was one of the first artists signed to Cashtime Life at its formation, shocked the nation last week Friday when he announced on SABC 1's Live Amp that he had parted ways with the label.

The news sent shockwaves across the country as fans flooded social media with their thoughts on the announcement.

  • 'Hurt' K.O clears the air on Kid X departureCo-founder of Cashtime Life, K.O, issued a lengthy statement on Friday addressing the recent departure of one of the label's biggest artists last week.

After remaining largely quite after the announcement, Kid X has finally given his side of the story, explaining that, most importantly, he needed to grow but more than that, him and the company were not on the same page.

"The main and important reason was I felt like I needed to grow. I felt like at Cashtime, because of the way the label is structured I’d pretty much done anything, or everything everything that I could possibly do," he told Slikouronlife during an interview.

"I feel like the label and I sort of stopped seeing eye to eye in terms of creativity, we were not really on the same page. Point in case, the mixtape. The mixtape initially, when I gave it to the label, we were still in demo form. This is a demo that I was riding around with in the car, to obviously just finish off the project and to see what I could enhance, what I could add to sort of give it value."

He added that when he took his partially complete project to the label, they "totally disregarded" it.

"Initially when I presented it to the label it was the album. So, obviously I got turned down..."

  • K.O: Kid X was supposed to be the Drake of CashtimeK.O has revealed that rapper Kid X was supposed to be the Drake of Cashtime but never filled his potential before leaving the label.

Soon after Kid X's departure was announced, co-founder of Cashtime Life, K.O issued a lengthy statement, in which he denied claims that the company had not done enough to support Ma-E and Kid X's projects.

"It hurts that none of them stand up for me and tell the truth that the delay of their albums dropping has nothing to do with me and everything to do with their own pace," he said in the statement.

Kid X is the second big name artist to leave the stable in the last few months, following Nomuzi Mabena's departure in March.
