Despite the dismal turnout at the controversial Thank You SABC concert over the weekend, one of the highlights for fans was undoubtedly when kwaito veteran Mandoza took to the stage.

Mandoza's determination to perform at the concert came just days after he was hospitalised after he was diagnosed with a brain tumour.

News of Mandoza's ailing health first emerged last Monday when a statement released by his family stated that he was "fighting for his life".

However, a few days later his wife, Mpho explained that the Nkalakatha hitmaker's condition is serious but not critical.

Despite his ailing health Mandoza remained steadfast in wanting to perform for his fans at the concert on Saturday.

Mandoza was helped onto stage by a group of his friends to a cheering crowd. The kwaito star thanked God for his life and thanked fans for their prayers and support.

"We surrender to the Almighty who restores our lives. I'm here to perform for you. To show you that the devil is a liar. The devil is a liar!," he told the cheering crowd.

Mandoza went on to perform his hit track Nkalakatha before announcing his next track.

However, fans on social media thought something was wrong after he apparently walked off stage without any explanation.

Speaking to TMG Entertainment on Monday morning Mandoza's wife  reassured fans that the musician is doing well.

"Mandoza is fine," said Mpho.

Mpho went on to add that nothing out of the ordinary happened at the concert on Saturday, and that every artist was scheduled to perform one song, which Mandoza did.
