Kyle Deutsch remembers Coke Studio: 'It was an unforgettable experience'

Young top producer Fenesse was teamed up with Wolfpack member Kyle Deustch and rapper Big Star Johnson on the most recent episode of Coke Studio this past weekend, and if we're taking Kyle's word for it, "it was an unforgettable experience".

TshisaLIVE got to hang with the singer following his undeniably hot collaboration with Big Star in the Coke Studio. Despite the fact that both artists struggled with finding a middle ground as the initial beats created didn’t seem to accommodate their separate styles, he's very confident in the track they finally managed to put together.

"Look, it wasn't as easy as I thought it would be, but it was really fun. Luckily we had two days to create the song, and that gave us more than enough time to come up with something that we can be proud of. We only had three runs of the track, and we recorded. I'm a perfectionist, so I had to make sure that whatever we put out there, had to be a hit. And I am pretty sure it is, if I have to say so myself."

With help of Coke Studio's in-house producer, Fenesse, Kyle and Big Star created a catchy trap-soul banger, titled Can't Help Myself.

"It's a feel good song, and there's no doubt that it will get people on their feet and dancing," he reveals.

Kyle and Big Star are worlds apart in terms of their musical backgrounds and tastes, but the Take It Back To The Beach hitmaker explains they used that to their advantage to create a magical fusion.

"Working with Big Star was a great experience. He's a very talented artist. Even though we both do our own different things, that worked to our advantage, because it helped the both of us to not only create something entirely new, but to learn quite a lot. I mean, personally, I learnt so much from the producers and everyone I worked with.

"It was an unforgettable experience, and I would definitely do it again if I had the opportunity."

While Kyle and Big Star struggled a bit first, that was hardly the case for Durbanite singer Ash and top Angolan hit maker Landrick, who hit it off as soon as they got into the Coke Studio.

It didn't take long for the two artists, who have never met each other, as well as Zimbabwean producer Mr. Kamera to start sampling beats, hum melodies and share their concepts with each other.

But that doesn't mean they didn't have their fair share of challenges. All the fun they were having was cut short when Ash realised that the direction the team was taking threw him in the deep end. He also worried that he would lose his signature style, that he is widely known for.

However, it wasn't long until they managed to sort out their differences and delivered a slamming afro-pop song, titled Paraeyes.
