M-Net is remaining tight-lipped over speculation on who might replace Gareth Cliff as a judge on Idols SA.

Gareth announced on Monday that he would be leaving the show at the end of the current season.

His resignation comes after a tumultuous year on the show.

  •

Gareth was fired after comments he made during the Penny Sparrow race debacle.

But he fought the decision and the court ruled in his favour.

In a statement Gareth said it's time to leave.

  •

"It’s time! After eleven seasons of Idols, it’s time for me to say goodbye. What better way to bring this chapter to a close than a trip to New York and meeting American Idols judge Harry Connick Jr and being on his post-Idols show ," he wrote on his social media accounts.

Meanwhile, M-Net has confirmed that a replace has not yet been confirmed.

"No decision has been made at this stage. We will communicate any further developments in due course," said M-Net's Nondumiso Mabece.
